Be Gone In a Blast Of My STORM!

We live in a world full of amazing heroes and it would be quite impossible to choose the “best”. But favourites now that most of us can choose one. Though we may not be superhero fans we all know them well enough to say something about them. Today I am going to tell you why Storm is one of those heroes who I feel should be a premier superhero.

Many may not notice her at first glimpse, but as we hear her name more often and we see her more we start to understand she is one of a kind. Her powers are magnificent even though some may argue it is nothing more then weather. She may not be the world’s most intelligent or the one with heaps of gadgets, but Storm (Ororo Munroe) is a descendant of an ancient royal line of white-haired, blue-eyed sorceresses, who get their defining features every five generations. Her parents died when she was five, due to a plane crashing into their home she was buried under rubble next to her mum and she still suffers from claustrophobia this very day.

Now moving on, since Storm’s introduction, Storm has always played a very prominent role in the world of the X-Men. In her early days after her first appearance she was a major character in the new team of X-Men. Her powers are the ability to manipulate the weather and she uses these skills to change the surrounding area’s atmosphere so she can fight enemies freely with her powers. She is also able to fly.

After the death of Jean Grey, Cyclops leaves the team and Storm is appointed team leader by Professor Xavier, a role she is unsure about at first. But later on does an excellent job, as the leader of the team.

She has many abilities such as :

Expert Thief: Extraordinary ability at picking locks and pockets, escape artist; therefore, she is very stealthy and good at sneaking up on people.

Expert Combatant: She is an experienced hand-to-hand combatant, trained by Wolverine.

and she is an Expert Gardener: Storm is also an excellent gardener owing to her supernatural abilities and has her own botanical gardens at the Xavier Mansion.

Even though storm has all these amazing abilities and powers she also has many weaknesses just like every other hero. Some of these weaknesses are:

Claustrophobia: From being trapped by the side of her dead mother under rubble for days.

Emotional Influence: Storm’s ability to manipulate the weather in her immediate command is affected by her emotions, therefore in the past storm has tried to keep her extreme emotions to a minimum.

and Physical Condition: Storm is limited by the force of her will and the strength of her body.

These are all reasons why I like Storm, she is an amazing female superhero and has many great abilities and powers, her weaknesses are not seen as a big disadvantage in my eyes as se is still an amazing hero.

  1. This is an excellent post. A particular strength is the way you summarise not only Storm’s powers, but also her weaknesses. You use complex language well, and your sentence structure and grammar is improving. Just a few pointers… In some places your sentences need a proofread for punctuation and grammar. The second sentence, for example, is fragmentary, and not a full sentence. The last sentence of paragraph two needs to be split into two sentences. In paragraph three, avoid using “Now moving on”, which would be appropriate for a spoken text, but not a written one, even a relatively informal text like a blog post. Just begin with “Since”. When using the bold subheadings, there is no need to use “and” at the start of the last one. Just make it a list. I’m sure your writing will continue to improve by taking on board this feedback and proofreading more closely – try reading out loud for meaning and to determine where and what type of punctuation to use. The content and structure here is excellent – just keep working on your grammar and punctuation. 🙂
